Tosoh Bioscience LLC announced it has completed an equity investment in Semba Biosciences with the intention of acquiring full ownership. The transaction was approved by the Board of Directors of both companies and an Equity Participation Agreement was executed on November 14, 2018.

The two companies have been collaborating on various downstream biomanufacturing projects since 2007. According to Ali Soleymannezhad, Director of Sales and Marketing at Tosoh Bioscience, “by combining Semba Biosciences’ advanced Simulated Moving Bed (SMB) technology with Tosoh Bioscience’s best-in-class resins, we will be able to offer the most productive and the most efficient solution in bioprocess chromatography while maintaining the highest quality”. He added, “We are excited to work with Semba Biosciences’ experts to extend the boundaries of downstream biopurification and set a new benchmark in the industry.”
