INSTRUMENTATION
The EcoSEC GPC system, the 7th generation of dedicated GPC
instruments manufactured by Tosoh Corporation, is an all-in-one system,
which can be used as analytical or semi-micro GPC/SEC system alike.
It provides an extremely stable baseline and a very low dead volume,
resulting in less band broadening and high sensitivity. The columns of
choice for use with the EcoSEC GPC system are referred to as semi-
micro columns since their dimensions are smaller than conventional
GPC columns in terms of internal diameter as well as in length. Semi-
micro column dimensions are advantageous in terms of shorter analysis
time, lower solvent consumption and reduced solvent disposal cost. The
EcoSEC GPC system is designed to achieve these benefits, whereas other
GPC systems must be optimized with respect to delay or dead volume.
By integrating HPLC system design and semi-micro column dimensions
the EcoSEC GPC system allows faster molecular weight determination
at a lower cost per analysis. Beside the autosampler and unique dual-
flow refractive index detector, EcoSEC also offers a dual thermostatted
column department, which accommodates up to 8 GPC/SEC columns.
With EcoSEC extraordinary fast equilibrium and setup times can be
achieved. The system can be equipped with additional detectors and
is fully controlled by the well known PSS WinGPC Unity data system.
This software combines all kinds of SEC/GPC applications for synthetic
and natural polymers and biopolymers and offers modules and export
functions for comprehensive analysis.
As a special highlight for analytica visitors interested in size exclusion
or gel permeation chromatography we will run a challenging EcoSEC
video game contest at our booth (A2.223). Drive the EcoSEC through
a race track and collect our semi-micro TSKgel GPC columns - the per-
fect match to run with the EcoSEC system - on your way. Reaching the
end of the track, you will be asked to demonstrate your knowledge on
the EcoSEC system by answering a couple of questions. The high-score-
winner of the day will receive a magnum bottle of champagne and all
other participants will receive a small EcoSEC system key chain, including
the game and all available information on EcoSEC.
ANALYTICA LIVE LAB AND ECOSEC CONTEST
Forthe first time ever, analytica2012will feature completely equipped laboratorieswithdaily livedemonstrations -
the Live Lab. Visitors will be given a compact look at the latest laboratory processes and techniques. The focus of
the live lab in hall B1 is ‚Plastics Analysis‘. The EcoSEC compact GPC system for polymer analysis will be exhibited
there and allow visitors to experience the instrument in real laboratory surroundings. All visitors interested
in polymer analysis are invited to test their knowledge about the EcoSEC system in a video game contest at the
Tosoh Bioscience booth (A2.223).
